The "2024 Pudong New Area Global Elite University Talent Through Train" Beijing Spring Introduction event took place at Peking University and Tsinghua University from April 16 to 17.

Titled "Welcome to Pudong, Get Your Talent Discovered by the World", the event featured departmental symposiums, specialized introduction sessions, on-site recruitment fairs, and online activities focusing on attracting talent in key industries in Pudong.

During the departmental symposiums, Pudong New Area officials introduced Pudong's science and technology industry system and talent development environment to leaders of relevant departments and employment officials from the two universities. Discussions were held on deepening cooperation in areas such as employment for their students, innovation and entrepreneurship, and the commercialization of scientific research achievements.

The specialized introduction sessions were held at various departments including the Physics School and the School of Mathematical Sciences at Peking University and the School of Electronic Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. The Pudong delegation conducted targeted introductions, presenting Pudong's talent reserve policies, postdoctoral policies, and innovation and entrepreneurship environment to young students.

Various participants such as Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co Ltd, Shanghai Zhangjiang High-Tech Industrial Park Development Co Ltd, and the Tsung-Dao Lee Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University conducted on-site introductions, inviting 2025 graduates to come to Pudong.

At the on-site recruitment fairs, 57 employers, including Pudong New Area's Party and government offices, public institutions, postdoctoral research workstations, district and State-owned enterprises, leading enterprises in key industries, universities, and research institutes offered 349 positions, recruiting a total of 899 people.

Online activities were also launched, featuring Pudong's promotional videos, talent policy information, recruitment announcements, profiles of key enterprises, and job requirements. The online platform provided convenient services for talent to register, access information, and submit resumes, offering comprehensive support for individuals interested in developing their careers in Pudong.

A total of 1,124 resumes were received from the two recruitment fairs, with 119 individuals expressing their intent to sign contracts. Additionally, 1,747 resumes were received online, with approximately 80 percent of applicants holding doctoral or master's degrees. Forty students from Peking University and Tsinghua University registered to participate in this year's "Come to Pudong" event.

"We have selected five resumes for follow-up, including two particularly suitable doctoral candidates, one of whom has already passed the initial screening by the HR department," said Guo Huijuan, deputy general manager of Healthcode (Shanghai) Biotechnology Co, representing the company at the Peking University recruitment fair. She was recruiting molecular biology engineers, protein structure engineers, and chemical engineers for the company's D2PLab AI protein structure design software.

Guo stated, "Although this recruitment fair was not large in scale, its precision was extremely high, involving disciplines that closely matched the company's needs. This significantly reduced communication costs between us and job seekers. We hope that outstanding young talent can demonstrate their abilities and realize their value at our company and in Pudong. Pudong has a series of supportive policies for young talent, enabling them to focus on research work."

Wu Mingyu, a student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University, engaged in in-depth discussions with recruiters about job information, research directions matching his expertise, and salary expectations. He remarked, "My job preference leans towards research. Today, I found five or six suitable positions, which is quite promising. After face-to-face discussions with the recruiters, I will further optimize my resume based on the company and position and strive to secure the position through online application."

Pudong New Area has established a comprehensive talent recruitment strategy in three stages throughout the year. During the spring, Pudong expands its talent "reservoir", holding introduction sessions at renowned universities worldwide, focusing on showcasing Pudong's leading position and explaining talent policies to soon-to-be graduates, planting the seed of "Come to Pudong, See Pudong" in their minds, and attracting more talent from home and abroad to choose Pudong, stay in Pudong, and thrive in Pudong.

In the summer, the "Come to Pudong" activities are organized, increasing understanding of Pudong among young talent. These activities are customized to different levels, offering short-term experiences, career connections, and entrepreneurship project roadshows, as well as month-long in-depth experiences providing training positions at renowned companies.

Last year, a total of more than 270 young talents from home and abroad participated, with master's and doctoral students accounting for 83 percent and STEM professionals for 68 percent. Over 90 percent of participants expressed a desire to innovate and start businesses in Pudong.

The fall features an employment “through train” scheme, inviting high-quality employers to universities for precise talent recruitment. In the second half of last year, more than 100 employers participated, interacting with students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beihang University, Nanjing University, and other institutions. An online recruitment platform was also introduced, gathering nearly 300 enterprises and institutions, offering over 1,200 positions and recruiting over 5,000 individuals. A total of 8,949 student resumes were received, with 1,390 individuals expressing intent to sign contracts, of which nearly 90 percent held master's degrees or higher.
